report on a dog that got #monkeypox after close contact with owners who had the virus. Interesting that the dog developed an anal ulceration, along with lesions elsewhere.

This has previously been seen in other animals too, and has implications for the assumption that anal lesions in people are necessarily due to anal sex. (No jokes, please, about the men screwing their dog.

However, I think the consistent reports of anal lesions in men who had anal sex & throat lesions in those who had oral sex is persuasive evidence that site of virus inoculation is a major factor.
